OSSTF Provincial has voted to suspend its political action related to voluntary activities. Please recognize that this was a decision reached at the collective level by representatives of secondary teachers and does not reflect the individual decisions that are going to be made by teachers over the coming days and weeks.
While we welcome this good news as a positive sign, it is important to note that we will experience a transition period that may not reflect a "business as usual" environment. Students will be told what activities will be commencing as decisions are made by individual teacher-coaches.
Dropping Off and Picking Up Students
Dropping off and picking up students are very challenging times and we are asking once again that parents do not stop or park along the side of the driveway at the front or north side of the school. This is creating a potentially unsafe situation for our students and other drivers. Please drive to the rear of the school and pick up your son or daughter and help ensure the safety of all.
When leaving the school on Main Street Unionville, please do not hold up the line by trying to turn left. As you sit there waiting to turn, the line behind you grows and creates an unsafe situation.
Parent Involvement Opportunities
BCSS is in need of your assistance with prizes for our school raffle. In the past, such items as sports tickets, electronics, gift certificates and other products/services were donated by our parents in support of this event. If you have any items that you wish to donate, please contact Noula Halikias-Mintsoulis.
The YRDSB Community Involvement reporting procedure has changed. There is a new form. Students should pick up this form in the Guidance office.
The key change is that students should have their community involvement activity pre-approved prior to completing the activity. There are clearer definitions relating to eligible and ineligible community involvement activities. View Board Policy 620.0 Community Involvement Hours for more information.
The guidance department will be visiting ILIP classes towards the end of August to explain the new policy.
And remember……BCSS students complete 80 hours of community hours for diploma purposes!
If your daughter/son is driving to school they must complete required paperwork, pay $15.00, and obtain their parking pass from Ms. Chilvers in the main office. The parking pass must be clearly displayed on the dash or rear view mirror to avoid ticketing or towing. Students are permitted to park in the west row of the parking lot.
Parent Contact Information
When you will be out of the country for business/vacation and leaving your child at home, please remember that the BCSS office requires an emergency contact name and number for your child. Please forward this information
to firstname.lastname@example.org to have on file.
Guidance is opening Colts' Corner in room 1012 from 12:00 to 12:50 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Students may eat their lunch, play games, and hang out with friends.
